The British player advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in her final two events this season because of the illness she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training will involve coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set in the match with Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions late this year.

The athlete revealed that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
