Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
