Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
