Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
