Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Consultants Face MPs' Inquiry After Claims of Bias in Leaked Memorandum
We begin with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, that chairs the group.
She initiates by providing context to the disclosed memorandum written by Michael Prescott and printed in a daily publication.
"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning this way or that way, I just want it balanced, unbiased and equitable," he declares.
Upon being questioned whether he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, Prescott answers: "Absolutely not. To be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is exceptional - including factual and non-factual programming."
But he adds: "There is real work that requires attention at the BBC."
Another previous consultant British Broadcasting Corporation specialist interviewed by the panel, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the BBC with great importance and that it operates a "continuous process and active debate" across fluid and multifaceted issues.
"Was the BBC prepared to engage in a proper discussion and argument and act accordingly?" she questions. "In my view, indeed, they were."
