It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she later admitted those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.
