Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans offered condolences for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
