Youthful Killer Receives Life Punishment with Lowest 16-Year-Long Duration
An 15-year-old boy has been punished to life incarceration with a base duration of sixteen years for the killing of fellow pupil the victim during a midday recess.
Deadly Educational Institution Incident
Mohammed Umar Khan stabbed the deceased, similarly 15, into the heart with a hunting knife at the city's All Saints Catholic High School in February.
Mrs Justice Naomi Ellenbogen lifted the anonymity order on the defendant during the judgment at the judicial building.
Relatives Statement
The victim's mother said she felt "like a large weight has been removed off my person" following the sentencing.
The two teenagers had beforehand quarreled over online platforms in the days prior to the deadly event.
Caroline Willgoose stated she was relieved the lowest period had been set above the required minimum of 15-year period.
"My parent has been receiving cancer treatment through the court proceedings and he just couldn't persist any longer," she stated.

Before the homicide on the third of February, Khan and the deceased had adopted conflicting positions in a unrelated dispute between additional schoolmates.
CCTV from the date of the stabbing showed the perpetrator approaching Harvey in the courtyard shortly after noon.
Observers recounted a situation of "confusion", with individuals "scattering, shouting throughout" during the brutal event.
Legal Process
Throughout the trial, Khan claimed he had not meant to kill the deceased or cause him grave injury, stating he could not recall what had happened.
The state maintained that he had "wanted to demonstrate he was formidable" and "understood exactly what he was performing".
"You were the instigator and... you behaved in distress and anger at what you viewed to be his treachery of your bond," stated the justice during the punishment phase.

The educational institution published a statement stating that the pupil was "greatly remembered every day by the entire educational community".
Police officials emphasized the catastrophic consequences of possessing weapons, observing that a "instantaneous decision" can permanently transform numerous lives.
